Rogers Celebrates it’s 45th Birthday – June 11th

Rogers Environmental Education Center Turns 45

Friends of Rogers will celebrate the 45th Birthday of the Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne on Saturday, June 11th.  Birthday cake will be served at 10am, followed by an open discussion with the community about the future of the Center.  Everyone is invited to come and share their ideas.  Prior to the celebration, the Friends group will lead a habitat improvement project from 9am-10am to help maintain the trails and grounds at the Center.

The Center was closed on December 31, 2010 after a reduction in NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) staffing and budgets.  Under an agreement with NYSDEC, Friends of Rogers will continue to offer educational activities and public programs at the Center.  The property remains open to the public, from dawn to dusk, and the state continues to maintain the buildings, plow, and provide security.

This event is open to the public free of admission, but donations to support operations of the Center are greatly appreciated.  To register for the event, or receive updates and announcements from FOR, visit
