Celebrate Earth Day at Friends of Rogers EV show & Earth Fair April 22nd 4-7 pm

Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center is collaborating with Drive Electric Earth Day to host an  Electric Vehicle Show & Earth Fair on April 22, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm at Rogers Center. The EV show will feature EV’s on display by local owners and some will be offering test rides. Owners will be available to answer your questions about driving an electric vehicle in Central New York, and their firsthand experiences. Simon Solomon, Executive Director, said “This is a great opportunity to learn about different electric vehicle features, manufacturers and models, and talk to the owners about what they like and what they don’t.”

Along with the DEED EV show, Friends of Rogers will have several local energy, educational, environmental, and outdoor groups on hand in the Visitor Center as part of the Earth Fair event. Groups include the Bullthistle Hiking Club, Chenango Bird Club, Intelligent Green Solutions, Sherburne Electric, Chenango County Dept. of Planning & Development, Livingston Energy Car Chargers, Boise’s Bees, Knapp Knoll Woodworks, Mid-York Mycological Society, SUNY Morrisville Professor Eric Diefenbacher will have herps and reptiles, SUNY Morrisville Faculty from the Renewable Energy and Environmental Conservation departments will be available to discuss careers in the environmental or renewable energy fields. Heather Tehan, Director of Development, said “We are excited to host an event on Earth Day that focuses on the choices we can make to live a more sustainable life. It all starts with connecting with nature, and Rogers Center is a wonderful place to make that connection at an any age.” She went on to say “ We hope the attendees of this event will have lots of fun, while learning something new and exciting about the environmental choices we can all make and the career opportunities available in our area.”

The Bullthistle Hiking Club will be leading a hike and there will be lots of activities on site. Food will be for sale at the event, including Gilligan’s Ice Cream. Jenni’s Music will be entertaining the children with live music and there will be a kids craft area. Visitors can also buy raffle tickets for baskets and donated items. The event is Free to attend and participate in. Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours of the Visitor Center are from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, other times by appointment.
