Central New York was once a underwater and has a unique geological history, so there are fossils to find right beneath our feet. Join Utica College Geology Professor, Adam Schoonmaker, PhD (and Friends of Rogers Board Member) as he leads this fossil dig for children ages 5+. Adam will show everyone the proper way to dig for fossils and explain the fascinating story of how they got there.
Meet in the Rogers Center main parking lot by 8:30 am and you can follow Adam or carpool to the site. The program lasts about 4 hours, so bring a snack or lunch, water & sunscreen. Tools will be provided for all registered participants. Tools include sample bags, hammers, safety goggles, field guide. Program fee is $10 for members and $15 for not-yet-members. Fee is for child participating, no fee for accompanying adult. Registration is required, please register by emailing info@friendsofrogers.org by May 31st.
