Three Things Thursdays - 7:00 PM

They say that any day you learn something new is a good day. We’d like to expand that to learning three new things!

This summer lecture series features guest speakers who share their knowledge about special topics that you might never have considered, or perhaps topics about which you would like to learn more.

May 16 - Chemical Ecology: the Interface Between Insects & Plants

Tonight’s presenter is Dr. Robert Raguso of the Raguso Lab at Cornell. Chemical ecology integrates chemistry and biology, examining the chemical interactions between organisms and their environment. It’s a whole other language of the natural world that few of us consider beyond pheromones. Our senses are blind to most of these interactions, and Dr. Raguso will help lift the veil so you can discover some of the secret exchanges that occur around us every single day. Call or email to register.

June 20 - Native Bees with Molly Jacobson

Molly Jacobson develops and coordinates projects to improve pollinator habitat on public and private lands, and performs public outreach with SUNY ESF’s Restoration Science Center. Her knowledge and passion for native bees, especially bumblebees, is apparent as she shares her concern for native bee populations and what each of us can do to help slow their decline.

July 18 - Central New York Geology with Kim LaCoe
